Description
Boitatá, a Tupi-Guarani entity, is a gigantic fire snake that protects the fields against those who set them on fire. It lives in the water and can also transform into a burning log, burning those who set fire to the woods and forests. The myth is related to the will-o'-the-wisp (ignis fatuus) phenomenon.
